GAPNEWS why are we interested in mining than farming?. The government must reconsider it decision in mining bauxite in Atewa forest ,why are we interested in mining than farming?. Every gov’t in power want to mine in the our forest. The most annoying thing is that , we have no technical skils in mining. Instand of traning our people, We give a whole forest to foreigners to mine and in return Ghana will get 5% as income,  The 95% will go out of the country, The gov’t will defend this by  saying we are creating job (direct and indirect job) at the end of the day our people will be suffering the most.  Our water bodies will be destroyed, outbreak of diseases, teenage pregnancy etc.
GAPNEWS We’re building real roads, not Greenbook roads – Bawumia Vice-President Dr Bawumia cutting the sod for the construction of 100 km of Kumasi roads Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has cut the sod for work to begin on the first phase of a project meant to rehabilitate some inner-city roads in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, as well as provide auxiliary infrastructure in the regional capital. The construction works will benefit six metropolitan and municipal areas, including the Asokwa, Kwadaso, Oforikrom, Tafo and Suame Municipalities. Manhyia, Bantama, Nhyiaeso and Subin, all sub-metros within Kumasi, would also benefit from this project. GAPNEWS I’ve done 72% not 48% – Akufo-Addo  President Akufo-Addo says his government deserves more than the 48.78% performance rating giving by policy think tank IMANI Ghana. According to him, the government rates its implementation of campaign promises since assuming power around 72%. “I disagree with the 48 assessment by IMANI. I think we deserve much higher. We are looking at 72. We have a fundamental disagreement with that rating. Our figure is the one we are working with and it’s the right one,” he noted at his 3rd encounter with the media in Accra. IMANI Africa has scored the Akufo-Addo government 48.78% in the delivery of its campaign promises so far. They also scored the government 54.35% for its handling of the economy. GAPNEWS Auditor-General erred in law – Senior Minister declares as he heads to court Yaw Osafo Maafo, Senior Minister Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo has announced that he has sued the Auditor-General over a surcharge and disallowance imposed on him by the Auditor-General, affirming that the evidence available to him (Osafo-Maafo) “shows clearly that the Auditor-General erred in law and professional procedures in the exercise of his powers regarding his audit on payments to Kroll and Associates Limited.” In the statement signed by Osafo-Maafo announcing the lawsuit, he added that the legal action is being taken on his behalf and on the behalf of four other officials of the Ministry of Finance, adding that he was hopeful that he and the others will clear their names through the suit. The Auditor-General imposed a surcharge of $1 million on Yaw Osafo- overpayments made to Kroll and Associates for, even though, the Auditor General concludes, there is no evidence of work done.
GAPNEWS IMANI scores Akufo-Addo gov’t 48.78% Policy think tank IMANI Africa has scored the President Akufo-Addo led government 48.78 per cent as far as the fulfilment of its 2016 campaign promises as concerned. This was contained in the 2019 Imanifesto report. Imanifesto is a progress report which seeks to validate the promises made by the NPP in the run-up to the 2020 polls and how many of those promises have been accomplished three years on. It assessed areas of governance, economy, social sector, infrastructure and human capital investment. Economy IMANI Africa scored the Ghanaian economy 54.35%. It noted that out of 162 promises, only 41 have been implemented. GAPNEWS NPP’s popularity drops 15%, NDC more popular in new regions Among declared voters, the NPP and the NDC both held leads in eight of the 16 regions A recent Afrobarometer report by the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) has revealed that 4 in 10 Ghanaians, representing 42 percent would not vote if presidential and parliamentary elections were to be held today. According to the study, 42 percent is the highest that has been recorded in the Afrobarometer surveys since 2008. Apart from the 42 per cent who said they will not vote, eleven per cent did not know whether or not they would vote. Also, 12 percent refused to answer the question on whether or not they would vote. GAPNEWS Akufo-Addo approves ¢15.6bn for financial sector support FMinister, Ken Ofori-Atta’s request for ¢15.6 billion to support the financial sector has been approved by President Nana Akufo-Addo. The money, according to the Minister is to protect monies of depositors’ of the failed financial institutions and also strengthen the financial sector. A letter from the President’s Secretary, Nana Bediatuo Asante, confirmed the approval. Thel letterquoted a memorandum to Parliament in which the Finance Minister was seeking the House’s approval for the said amount.
GAPNEWS NDC behind teachers strike – Education Minister alleges The Minister of Education is accusing teachers of allowing the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to influence them. Dr Mathew Opoku-Prempeh claimed credible information available to him suggested that some NDC members met with some teacher groups to plan the strike. His comment follows a nationwide strike declared by three teacher unions effective Monday, December 9, 2019 over failure of government to pay legacy arrears of members. They are Ghana National Association of Teachers, National Association of Graduate Teachers and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers. The aggrieved teachers argue that, the arrears span the period 2012 to 2016 – a situation they described as worrying. GAPNEWS NDC may soon launch ‘Ashawos for Mahama’ – Afia Pokua Vim Lady1 Afia Pokua popularly known as Vim Lady stationed with Despite Media Group has said very soon, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) may be launching Ashawos for Mahama as the 2020 campaign heats up. Speaking on Okay FM, she said because NDC has not learnt any lessons, they will soon be launching “Ashawos for Mahama, Ladies for Mahama”. According to her, the NPP must learn lessons from how then-incumbent John Mahama run his campaign and repeat the same in 2020.
